Te Pou Waiora delivers

Te Pou Waiora looks to encourage innovation and best practice so disabled people and their whānau can design  support that fits with their best life. We assist  organisations to make the changes that may have been suggested or required by themselves, the people and families/whānau they support or through an audit, evaluation or some other review.

We will partner with your organisation to create the change you want or need to ensure the people you support get the best you have to offer.

If your organisation is funded through the DSS (Previously Whaikaha) then his support can be organised  through the Assisting Change contract we have with them. Find out more here.

Te Pou Waiora will engage recognised leaders in the area where change needs to take place to support that change and ensure the change aligns with Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Enabling Good Lives principles and approaches and the UNCRPD.

Organisational development

We look to assist disability support providers to enhance their operations and quality so that they:

  • Involve the leadership and expertise of disabled people, tāngata whaikaha Māori, whānau and families to create safer lives and increased wellbeing
  • Mirror Enabling Good Lives, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and Te Tiriti o Waitangi in their disability funded services
  • Achieve ordinary life outcomes in non-segregated environments
  • Enhance choice and control for people using services and their families/whānau

Some disability support providers will be referred to Te Pou Waiora through a contract we hold with the DSS unit within MSD. Others can approach us directly to contract us to assist them to meet these objectives.
